The Scarifyers explore Lovecraft

I have been listening with great pleasure to the episode of The Scarifyers "The Devil of Denge Marsh" broadcast on BBC 7. The story of two slightly unsuitable paranormal investigators takes them into the bizarre world of Lovecraftian horror in coastal England.

The nice thing about it is that they researched the surrounding literature quite well. For example there is a small reference to Neil Gaimans story "Shoggoth's Old Peculiar" which can be found in his collection "Smoke and Mirrors". Also other creatures from Lovecraft's mythology as well as the unavoidable Necronomicon are embedded into the story. Lovely stuff.

Anyone who likes this kinda thing should perhaps give the collection of stories mixing Sherlock Holmes and the Cthulhu mythos a glance. It's called "Shadows over Baker Street" and contains among many other things Neils award winning story "A Study in Emerald" (also found in the collection "Fragile Things"). This particular story can also be downloaded as MP3 lovingly read by the author.
